In order for class to run smoothly and effectively, we will follow these procedures:
Coming in to Class:
Walk in the room quietly.
Sit at your desk.
Copy the learning objectives and the homework.
Wait for class to begin.
Forming Groups:
Groups of 2:
Listen to instructions
Turn your torso to talk briefly or Turn your desk to complete work.
Groups of 3 to 4:
Listen to instructions.
Quickly move your desk into a group of 3 to 4.
Begin working.
all this takes no longer than 30 seconds.
Taking Notes:
Open your notebook to a new page.
Unless I tell you to use a different graphic organizer, take Cornell Notes
Cornell Notes: Big ideas/questions on the left side, information/answers on the right side, 3 or 4 lines at the bottom for summary.
Asking Questions:
I encourage you to ask questions in class that are related to what we are learning about. However, even asking questions requires you to follow the proper procedure:
Raise your hand and wait to be called upon before giving an answer.
DO NOT shout answers out.
Why don't we shout out answers?
Entering the Class Late:
If you are late:
Come in quietly, sit down, and begin working. (remember, if you miss too much class time, you will be removed from class).
If someone else is late:
Continue working. There is no need for you to waste class time by saying hello to each person who enters class late. The same is true if another teacher enters the classroom.
Leaving the Class:
All rows must be straight.
All trash must be picked up from the floor.
Wait to be dismissed.
Going to/from the Computer Lab:
Walk quietly to and from the computer lab.
DO NOT shout/wave to friends in other classrooms -- respect the learning that is happening in other classes (this is your only warning).
Find your computer.
Sign in to the computer so you can save your work.
